New Changes to the Lamborghini Urus Performante Written by Dealer Site on August 30, 2022. Posted in Blog, Lamborghini, Urus For many devotees of the automotive industry, Lamborghini needs little to no introduction. The Italian manufacturer has a reputation synonymous with power, performance, and unsurpassed prestige. In recent years, the SUV has enjoyed a surge in popularity, surpassing the minivan and station wagon as the ideal vehicle for the family-oriented consumer. Lamborghini seems the least expected to do so of all the brands to turn their attention to this particular type of vehicle. However, the Lamborghini Urus is just that. And now, some significant changes are being made to the SUV that breaks all the rules. Two Worlds, One Urus For those in the market for an SUV, you’ll have the opportunity to not only get behind the Urus wheel but also choose between two different versions. The standard Urus is still available, but Lamborghini has recently unveiled a lighter version with more power, aptly titled the Performante. And, as the name might suggest, performance is the name of the game that Lamborghini is still playing. Performante Perfection As previously mentioned, Lamborghini has put this version of their SUV on a slight diet. A carbon-fiber hood and lighter springs have dropped 103 lbs. from the frame of the SUV. While it still weighs a hefty 5,200 lbs, the modification is substantial and geared towards improving performance. This is accentuated by a lowered height to allow for a closer relationship to the road. The clearance reduction of 22 mm and a wider body for added traction and control by 16mm certainly allow for a smoother ride that’s more in tune with the expectation from Lamborghini’s fan base. Under the Hood and Beyond Expectation While Lamborghini has never lacked high-octane excitement via their powertrains, the Urus almost seems like a scaled-back engine, especially considering the V-10 and V-12 engines for which the brand is notable. A 4.0L V-8 is what propels the Performante Urus forward. Producing 657 ponies of horsepower, the updated Uros overpowers every SUV that’s currently on the market. With a top speed of 190 MPH and the ability to go from 0-60 in only 3.3 seconds, Lamborghini has single-handedly broken the mold in terms of what the SUV can accomplish. Icon of Innovation and Excellence: The Lamborghini Countach Written by Dealer Site on March 21, 2022. Posted in Blog, Lamborghini Very few brands have achieved the notoriety and legacy that Lamborghini has attained. Say the name in any casual conversation and images of high-octane performance and refined engineering immediately come to mind. While there’s been no shortage of creations from the Italian-based manufacturer that inspires both awe and admiration from adoring viewers, it’s the Countach that holds a unique place in the annals of European automotive history as a true game-changer. Entering production in 1974, Lamborghini proved that the muscle car domination of America could be challenged by a foreign market. While engines such as the 454 big-block V8 propelled several Camaro’s across the finish line, Lamborghini did one better and unveiled a then-unheard-of V-12 engine. The engine would boast specs that were mind-blowing, with 370 ponies of horsepower and the ability to generate 270 lb.-ft of torque. When the sun finally set on the Countach after a 16-year run, the engine has been refined to peak performance. The final variation of the Countach’s V-12 boasted 449 horsepower and 370 lb.-ft of torque. High performance would never be seen the same way ever again. This wasn’t the only defining characteristic of Lamborghini’s supercar to capture the imagination of many. The car’s distinct wedge shape would remain one of the Countach’s consistent features that would popularize the design across many of the supercar’s that came after it. While European markets had been salivating over the Countach’s since its debut, American admiration was all but guaranteed when the car appeared in the 1979 film, Cannonball Run. While the 1970s are often thought of as the decade of Burt Reynold’s iconic Pontiac Trans Am in Smokey and the Bandit, it was clear that Lamborghini had crafted a vehicle to give Burt and his famous mustache a run for its money. Throughout the duration of the 1980s the Countach became the design that many thought of when supercars or futuristic vehicles were mentioned. By the time the vehicle ended its run in 1990, it’s legacy and popularity had spanned two decades and had redefined what automotive manufacturers were capable of accomplishing. The Countach is still a highly coveted item in the auction world, with many selling for top dollar. In the three decades since it ceased production, the legacy of Lamborghini’s standard-bearer remains intact. If you’ve ever watched Cannonball Run and thought to yourself “I really want to get behind the wheel of a Lamborghini”, you now have a chance. Lamborghini Sarasota offers an impressive inventory of high-performance sports cars that need little to no introduction. Visit our Sarasota dealership today at 5141 Clark Road. Continue Reading
